Comments on blogs

1)I visited Denis’ blog. He has written about stereotypes about Russia and I found his blog as very emotional. The author has demonstrated that he really cares about negative image of his native country, but I do not agree with him in several points.
First, the media is under strict control of censorship and government in Russia today. It is impossible to say that the media are at the same position nowadays as they were in USSR. Yes, the media have some opportunities to criticize the government, but these critics should be within rules which the government permits. It is kind of well-controlled critics. If journalists begin to write and say something more than it is allowed, they are murdered like Maxim Zuyev and Politkovskaya.
Second, I do not agree that there is no racism in Russia. If I am not right, how the author can comment murders or fights based on race differences which are not rare in Russia? Also how Denis can comment words in Russian language such as “churka”, “hach” and “uruk”?
Denis, how can you comment all of these mentioned above facts?

2)The next blog I visited is “Media Decreases Privacy” by Peter Cizek. I absolutely disagree that the media has negative impact on our privacy. Disadvantages of the media are not significant; mostly they are because of low level of the ethics among people. People who do something illegal must know and remember that they will be punished anyway. People who care about virtual “private life” should be more focus on real “private life” and spend less time in the internet.
I also did not like two pages which he has recommended to visit (www.youtube.com and www.yahoo.com). This is kind of trick, because all of us (students from M&S course) could recommend absolutely the same pages or www.seznam.cz, www.google.com and state, that “On this site people can read the news. Every single day there is something (image, video, audio) that was taken or made without acknowledgment of the person that is considered in that particular medium”.

3)The following blog is written by Michal Klicnik about censorship. This blog is focused on porno and violence censorship. The author also provides us information about the situation in Australia and China in this field. I basically agree with his position.

4)Myo Ryu concerns her blog about “Media Portrayals of Groups in Society – Gender Stereotyping and White Privilege.” It is one of the best blogs from our class, well- structured, useful pictures and video, interesting writing style, and the author shows that she really cares about this topic. No points to argue.

5) The next blog I visited is written by Martina Slozilova. Muslims in the media is an example of that, unfortunately, the media sometimes tell people what to think, but not to what to think about. I agree that portrait of Muslim in the Western media is mainly negative. Sometimes “Muslim” is synonym of “terrorist”, but if we use the same principles and stereotypes about communities, it is possible to say that all “Catholics” are “pedophiles”, American style of education in high school encourages children to take a gun and kill each other, that is not true, no doubt!
Western people should understand that Muslims are similar members of the world society and they are not more dangerous than atheist or Christians. Every religion or ethnic community has its good and bad representatives. On the other hand, Muslim leaders should contribute more effort in creating fair image of Islam in the Western world. They should pay more attention to every day communication with public.
